Okanagan Golf Experience - June 2007
On the way up we saw a group of men rappelling trees down the side of the mountain.
We golfed on Monday in Merritt @ the Merritt Golf and Country club. From there we went to Kelowna and had supper with my Dad's brother and Jake and my Aunt Bev. We stayed with them for a couple nights.
We also got a little surprise on the car outside my Uncle's house.
After cleaning up the car, we managed to get a little visit in with my cousin Tanya and her husband Jeff as well. Glad to be able to meet her two kids for the first time. My sister was there as well. After that we golfed with my Uncle and a cool Irish friend of his at Aspen Grove . The next day we headed out to try to golf at St Andrews on the Lake, but they were full. We ended up finding a courses in Peachland called Ponderosa, which is the name of the pond beside my parents new place. The say their patio has the best view in the Okanagan, and I'd have to agree, although the security on the course was interesting.
We kept crisscrossing with a Coyote, but never got very close. After golfing we headed on to Oliver to visit another of my Dad's brothers. We stayed with Uncle George for a couple of nights as well. As a family we vacationed in Oliver countless times growing up. Along with cousins and family friends, we regularly made Tuc-el-nuit Lake our own. We golfed on a course that used to be lined with Cherry trees but to our disappointment, there were no cherries to be had. But NK'MIP was a nice course, all be it a little pricey, but thanks for paying dad I won't tell Mom the price. In the evening I went for a walk and reminded myself of the town, realizing after twelve years how familiar it still was. After another night in Oliver, we tried again to golf at St Andrews on the Lake, but they were booked solid again. We started back to Abbotsford, and stopped at a course my Dad figures he's driven past 100 times and never played. Our final course of the week was the Princeton golf course.
All said, it was a great week of golf and wonderful time with my Dad. I think we should make it an annual event. Anybody else want to join us?
